Auto Tip Tuesday! 

     Use wheel cleaner: Your car’s wheels are down there on the road, taking the brunt of road dirt. Add in the dust that wears off your brake pads and you’ve got a formula for stains that are tough to remove when you wash your vehicle. Car-washing liquid won’t do the job.You need a wheel cleaner specifically formulated to remove such stains. Be sure to buy the correct formulation. Some cleaners are designed for metal wheels, and others for painted or clear-coated wheels.The metal wheel cleaners come in various formulations as well, depending upon whether your metal wheel has a satin, aluminum, or chrome finish. Protect metal wheels with wheel polish, painted wheels with a coat of wax.

Auto Tip Tuesday!

     Beware the wet thumb: If you top off your tires at a service station, check to see if there’s moisture coming from the air pump. Simply depress the pin inside the inflator valve with your thumbnail. If your thumb gets wet, advise the station manager that his tanks need to be drained and go to a different station. Moisture, trapped inside a tire, can cause pressure variations and corrode rims.

Fill with washer fluid only!

     Don’t add water to the windshield washer reservoir. It won’t clean as well as washer fluid, and it may freeze in cold weather and damage the system. Don’t try to run your windshield washer system once you suspect there’s no more fluid in the tank, or you may damage the washer fluid pump.

     I was "krusin'" ALL over Scottsdale and Mesa today visiting exciting new places, as well as our current Super Saver merchants! I started my day off at C3 Kitchen at Scottsdale Quarter and after my two shots of espresso I was even more ready to hit the road. I had the chance to talk briefly with the owner- really friendly woman! I asked her what "C3" means and she told me it's because it's her third restaurant that she has opened... how clever! Their coffee is very reasonable priced and I love how they have healthy options too! I thought it was cute how they have a morning "happy hour" from 7-10 AM, all coffees are 50 cents off. I've never seen this before! This spot is super trendy, yet casual, and I can't wait to go back!

     After I left C3 Kitchen, I decided to walk around Scottsdale Quarter for a bit and walked into several shops. Have you ever heard of a place that will just blow dry and style your hair?? I found a place that does just this! It's called "Dry Bar" and for 40 bucks they will do your hair for you! A girls dream...I love it. I also found this neat spot called "Bath Junkie" that sells anything and everything you could ever want or need for a relaxing bath. It was so tough to hold back from buying everything I saw! As I kept walking down the strip of stores I was drawn to the cute store front of "Press Coffee". Although I didn't get any coffee because I was already full of caffeine, I spoke with the manager who was really nice and told me about her business. I will definitely be back to try a cup!

    Once I had enjoyed a nice morning at Scottsdale Quarter, I "kruised" over to Goldman's Deli to enjoy a nice turkey pastrami sandwich. Their menu is full of Chicago style Jewish cuisine and it was to die for! I could tell that it was a pretty popular lunch spot based on the crowd lined up out the door! There was even a table full of ladies playing Mahjong... how fun!

     My next stop was ACE Automotive in Mesa, which is one of our merchants that has been on our Auto Care Super Saver program for years. Right when I walked in I spotted a customer holding their Planet Super Saver punch card! I chatted with her about how the Super Saver has been working for her and she said she loves it and has built a great relationship with ACE Automotive. This is what we like to hear :)

     To end my day I headed to Old Town Scottsdale for a bit and stopped by The Gelato Spot! This neat place also serves wood fired pizza. Who wouldn't want a nice slice of pizza paired with gelato for dessert?! They also have a bar inside... three in one! I tried the almond joy & samoa gelato, it tasted just like an almond joy and the somoa girl scout cookie!! After I left The Gelato Spot, I ran into Old Town Candy & Toys right down the street. The entire place is filled with delicious looking candy, it's a bummer I didn't get the chance to indulge in any of it because I was so full from the day! But, I loved the old fashioned vibe I got when I walked in the door and some of the toys gave me flashbacks from when I was a young girl!

      Got a rock chip, crack, or ding in your windshield? Bring your car to a windshield repair shop. For far less cost than replacing the windshield, they can fix chips and cracks, even quite long ones. The repairs not only keep the chips and cracks from spreading and restore structural integrity, they also improve clarity.

     Yesterday I enjoyed lunch on the patio at one of Tempe's new-ish neighborhood wine bars. I felt like I was in the city, but at the same time in somebody's casual, yet elegant, backyard. I had the romaine cobb salad and a brie wedge complimented with a glass of faggetto prosecco. The wine list alone is worth the trip! But, they have great daily specials and what seems to be a pretty incredible happy hour every day. On Monday nights they have a wine and s'mores special... how fun does that sound?! I think I may just have to check that out :) Anyone living in or around greater Phoenix should stop by! We are told that their Sunday brunch (which includes oreo pancakes!) is simply fabulous!

Charles Miller House- Downtown Scottsdale

     

     After I enjoyed a nice Americano over at Alo Cafe, the staff recommended I walk around the corner to visit the Charles Miller House, which is located in the downtown historic district of Scottsdale. Charles Miller was the visionary that brought electricity to Scottsdale in the early 1900's. Thank you Charles Miller!! This historic house now just so happens to be the home of JAM Boutique. 
     Once I walked into the JAM Boutique there was so much to look at! It's packed with adorable gifts, collectibles, and designer greeting cards. I met Jennifer, the store manager, who also happens to craft and sell unique fabric baskets. She gave me one of her baskets, which is definitely one of a kind!       Woke up this morning with a tasty Americano from Alo Cafe! I really enjoyed the rustic, Italian atmosphere out on the patio. I spoke with the owner, Steve, who is a former native New Yorker- great guy! The staff was super and I loved the friendly conversation. This is an ideal spot for our Planet Super Saver fans!

     Do you like tacos and tequila? Then you must check out Cien Agaves in Old Town Scottsdale! We stopped by this afternoon and enjoyed some spicy island shrimp and shredded chicken tacos. The casual and upbeat atmosphere made it even more enjoyable! This would be the perfect spot to relax at while shopping or after a spring training game. If you can't make it during the day though don't worry, they have quite the nightlife, as well. With over 100 premium, handcrafted tequilas I'm sure you can imagine the fun and exciting scene over at this lively restaurant :) Thanks to the manager Katie for chatting with us and for a fantastic mexican style lunch!

      As I was headed over to visit one of our current auto merchants I spotted a neat looking cafe on the corner of 32 and Shea. I immediately decided I had to check it out and pulled a quick left turn (safely of course ;)). When I pulled up to park I noticed the name of the local bistro is "32 Shea"... ironic right? :) What really caught my eye about this place was the enticing tree covered patio with colorful cushions on the chairs. They serve coffee, food, and cocktails and even have a drive-thru for those on the go. But, it gets better... they have a 12 hour happy hour. Yes, I said 12! If you're looking for an urban, modern, and hip place to unwind at I would highly recommend 32 Shea!

      I think I am full for the rest of the day! I just enjoyed a delicious "Florentine" egg white omelette full of spinach and light ricotta cheese with a refreshing glass of fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice. Can you say YUM?! This restaurant is right in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale and it was packed full of people. The weather is too perfect right now, so I sat outside on the dog-friendly patio and enjoyed my meal right off of the famous Scottsdale Road. The staff was super friendly and the decor inside had a retro feel to it, which was so fun! I am glad I found this place and was able to check it out to share with you guys! This would be an awesome Planet Super Saver deal!

Auto Tip Tuesday!

      Do you have leather seats in your car? If so, listen up! Leather car seats are pretty durable and usually don't require much maintenance, but after a few years the seats can become soiled and dirty (like most things after repeated use). To keep your seats looking brand new, use a leather cleaner to remove dirt and stains. Then apply a leather protectant formulated for pigmented or top-coated grain leather (the leather used for most leather car upholstery). Protectants will resist stains and make the upholstery easier to clean the next time. Make sure to choose a protectant that includes conditioners to keep your leather flexible.

Winner Winner, Cheesesteak Dinner!

      Looking for a place that serves off the wall DELICIOUS Philly sandwiches? I was just at Philadelphia Sandwich Company and let me tell you, this places knows how to make a cheesesteak! The bread was amazingly fresh and baked perfectly (I think this was my favorite part!). After I enjoyed my fries and cheesesteak I was able to met with the owner, Dennis. Really great guy and he even gave me a piece of apple bread pudding for dessert :) But it gets even better...

      While I was enjoying my yummy lunch I was able to meet the comedians who host the 24/7 Comedy radio show. They had a booth set up inside of Philadelphia Sandwich Company and were recording a show to air this week. I entered into their raffle to win two VIP tickets to see Chelsea Handler and you'll never believe it- I WON! I love Chelsea Handler and I am so so excited to see her live next month! Who should I bring with me with the extra ticket??

Coffee Buzz!

      

      Taking advantage of this beautiful day and enjoying some dark-roast coffee on the patio of Altitude Coffee Lab. I recently found this neat local coffee shop and just knew I had to check it out. They have a seasonal menu featuring small-plate cuisine and fresh pastries. I chose the fresh fruit cup (amazing!), but looking around at other's plates, the food looks absolutely delicious. I'm not a coffee expert, but this very well might be one of the best cups I have ever had! I might just have to grab myself another ;)              

      The atmosphere here is one of the many reasons I have already fallen in love with this place. The patio has a lovely view overlooking the neighborhood lake. There is plenty of comfy seating inside and outside and adorable cushioned benches to relax on. Their dog friendly patio allows you to even bring your pooch along for the ride too! Judging by the row of bikes lined up outside the patio, it looks like a lot of people finish their morning bike ride here at Altitude. I couldn't think of a better local place to unwind at.

      I definitely recommend this coffee lab to anyone who is looking for a place to get some work done or just catch up with friends, all while enjoying a nice "Cup Of Joe"! Oh, and for you singers out there- tonight is open mic night :)

      Hey guys! I know it has been a while since I've posted last, things have been SO busy here at Planet Super Saver. With the launch of our new website things have really started to take off! We have rolled out our new target markets for 2014 and will be focused on gaining more deals for you in Arizona & Southern California. We have begun to expand into Personal Care, Home & Garden, and Specialty Offers. Exciting stuff, right?! But, it gets even better...

     We are launching a new series, "Kruisin' With Kels!". I will be out and about in various communities within Arizona visiting with our merchants, interviewing them, and posting updates to our Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and other social media accounts. Now you will be able to see a little bit more behind the scenes and meet some of our wonderful merchants here in the "Valley Of The Sun"!

      Not only will I be visiting with our current merchants, but I will also be trying out new restaurants, visiting the coolest spots in AZ, and sharing my findings with YOU! My mission over the next 8 weeks is to find and share new local businesses with our customers, so please share spots you love with me because I would love to check them out. Hopefully we will have some hot new deals from these exciting new places in the near future!

      I can hardly wait to get on the road! I am stoked to cruise around the valley in my bright red VW Convertible Beetle and discover new local restaurants, attractions, and businesses! Check back later this week to see where my first stop is!
